Congratulations to Cakes & Sugarcraft contributor and Squires Kitchen International School tutor, Tessa Whitehouse, who won gold at Salon Culinaire in London this year.
Tessa entered the competition to create a ‘wedding cake of two or more tiers decorated to competitor's choice or theme’.
She produced a stunning wedding cake inspired by René Lalique, with the board, cakes, spacer, pillars and vase all based on the patterns and textures of Lalique glass. Tessa said, ‘My first reactions were complete shock and amazement followed by excitement. How amazing to win a gold medal at such a prestigious competition. Having seen all the amazing exhibits I feel very honoured that my cake was given such a high award.’
